Good day and welcome to the Principal’s
Message for the week of May 14th:
Graduating Seniors from CHS will cross the stage and receive their diplomas on Friday, June 1st, at the ECC Events Center. The ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. Families of graduating students should have recently received a letter from the high school detailing procedures, times and expectations for that evening’s event. Following are specific reminders for Seniors, and their families, about that night:
-All students must report to the Spartan
Terrace room CAC 101 of the Elgin Community College Spartan
Events Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL 60123 in cap and gown
no later than 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 1st. Attendance
will be taken at that time and students will be lined up for the
processional march. Please be on time.
- Proper dress for men is dark dress shoes
(no athletic-type shoes), dark dress socks, long dress pants (no jeans),
a dress shirt with a collar, and a tie. For women, proper dress
includes a skirt or dress pants and top, a dress, and dress shoes.
Flowers and other items may not be worn on the gown. Caps and
gowns may not be altered in any way. Students who do not wear
the proper clothing to graduation will not be allowed to participate in
the graduation ceremony.
- Proper conduct and behavior are required at
the graduation practice, senior picnic, final exams, honors night, and
graduation ceremony. Lack of proper behavior will result in
non-attendance at the graduation ceremony and/or withholding of the
diploma pending disciplinary action.
- Please remind friends and relatives not to
approach the stage during the presentation of diplomas. A
professional photographer will take a picture of each graduate which you
may purchase. After graduation, you must pick up your
diploma immediately following the ceremony in the Spartan Terrace
room CAC 101. You may keep your cap, tassel, and gown.
- With your help, graduation will be a special evening for all of us. Congratulations to the class of 2012.
On Saturday, May 5th,
Collin Cabangal and Trevor Ary journeyed to the Old Capitol building in
Springfield, Illinois, to participate in the State-wide History Fair.
This is a State-level competition as part of the National History Fair
Project. Collin presented his project on John Dillinger and
Trevor did his project on James Tibbits. Both boys were recent
winners at a Regional competition held in DeKalb in April. Collin
took first place in his area and is eligible to move on to the National
Competition. All of the students who participated in this activity
sponsored by Ms. Laurel Bradley are very excited about next year’s
competition and hope to bring an even larger group to the DeKalb
Regional.
Congratulations to the District 301
students who competed in the BNC Math Contest last Friday, May 11th.
