Engage, Inspire, Empower

Principal's Message

May already!  This school year has really gone by quickly!  There are many activities coming up as we end our school year – please make sure to review the events below so you can attend the ones that are important to you.

Next week (May 7th – 11th) we are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week!  The PTO has organized a breakfast and a luncheon with food donations from our families to celebrate our teachers.  Please take a moment to send your student’s teachers a note or e-mail to show your gratitude for all they do.  We are very fortunate to have fantastic teachers here at Prairie Knolls.

May 8th will be our final planned transition activity as the middle schools realign to grade level centers.  On this day, the current PKMS 7th graders will visit CMS, getting to know the building and meeting the other District 301 7th grade students.  Likewise, the current CMS 6th graders will be coming to PKMS to do the same.  If you have any questions about the middle schools for next year, please do not hesitate to contact either Mr. Stover at CMS or me.

The last day of school for 6th and 7th graders is on Wednesday, June 6th.  On this shortened day, students will receive their 4th quarter report cards before leaving.  The last day of student attendance for 8th grade is on Tuesday, June 5th.  On this day, students will have a promotion practice in the afternoon.  Promotion is Tuesday, June 6th at 6:00 pm in the PKMS gymnasium.  More information on this evening, as well as other 8th grade activities, will be sent home soon.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, restful summer!

Theresa Kolkebeck
Principal, PKMS
